Loews Hotels salute the ‘Golden Age of the Cocktail’ with cross-country travelling bar; featured at Loews Miami Beach Hotel this August.
Loews Hotels’ exclusive traveling “pop-up” experience, The Traveller Bar, has recently arrived at the newly renovated Loews Miami Beach Hotel. From 3 – 30 August 2017 guests will be able to experience the first ever “pop-up” bar of its kind and pay homage to the ‘golden age of the cocktail’ at restaurant and lounge, Bar Collins.
The Traveller Bar is making its rounds to 24 Loews Hotels’ destinations, re-imagining the guest beverage experience for those that like to think outside the glass. The cross-country tour pays homage to historic pioneers of America’s cocktail culture by crafting 150-year-old drink recipes Loews Miami Beach Hotel visitors will be able to enjoy until 30 August. The Traveller Bar offers a menu of eight classic cocktails traditionally handcrafted by expert mixologists. Selections include the Daiquiri, Whiskey Cocktail and Picador, among other classic libations.
“We’re excited to welcome The Traveller Bar to the iconic Loews Miami Beach Hotel, where it will complement our new Bar Collins indoor/outdoor vibe,” said Armando Campos, Food & Beverage Director, Loews Miami Beach Hotel. “Guests and locals alike can look forward to enjoying the pop-up’s classic cocktails until the end of August.”
Constructed from an old elevator car, the travelling bar’s structure is re-assembled onsite at each Loews property. The contemporary concept features a zinc-topped bar, four leather bar stools, an antique cash register and a black metal mesh wall lined with shelves of bottles and an impressive library of nearly 50 rare and vintage cocktail books, including a first-edition of the oldest cocktail recipe book ever written, the’ Bar-Tender’s Guide’ by Jeremiah P. Thomas, which sells for around $8,000. The full library can be accessed digitally on the iPads available on the bar counter.
“We wanted to create a truly authentic and culturally relevant, yet light hearted, intimate and engaging beverage concept for cocktail enthusiasts, and were able to draw inspiration from the classic cocktail era to engage our guests and that could also be shared across our hotel portfolio,” said Mark Weiss, Senior Vice President of Food & Beverage at Loews Hotels. “Our ultimate goal is to shake up the modern-day drinking culture and honour the industry’s talented and artisanal beverage artists, building on Loews’ commitment to offering a distinctly creative beverage & food culture.”
Featured 3 – 30 August, The Traveller Bar is at Loews Miami Beach Hotel’s Bar Collins, from 6pm to 1am, Thursdays to Saturdays.
