Premiering on 20 January 2017, Pablo Larraín’s Jackie is set to showcase the Capital Region through the intimate portrayal of First Lady Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy in the tragic aftermath of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Staring Natalie Portman, Peter Sarsgaard and Greta Gerwing, Jackie takes the viewer inside the Kennedy’s mystical Camelot.
Visitors to the Capital Region can visit well-known locations throughout Washington DC, Virginia and Maryland and literally walk in the footsteps of the Kennedys at the iconic sites featured in the movie such as The White House and Downtown Washington DC, Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia, and the Easton Newnam Airfield and Tred Avon Manor in Maryland, in addition to beach scenes shot along Maryland’s Eastern Shoreline; the “Road to Nowhere”, just outside of Baltimore.
Larraín’s production intertwines documented footage from the era with cleverly crafted scenes exploring the fragile persona of the United States’ most televised First Lady as she struggles with great personal loss under the direct scrutiny of the eyes of the American people. Jackie takes you inside the Kennedy family, exploring both their on-screen and off-screen lives during the tragic end to their tenure in the White House.
