Monday, 8 December 2014 – The Duke of Cambridge will be visiting Washington, DC today as part of a three-day visit to the United States of America.
Their Royal Highnesses have travelled to New York for a schedule of engagements and Prince William will visit the USA’s capital for the day, while The Duchess remains in New York.
Washington, DC has written a light-hearted open letter to Prince William welcoming him to the city. The letter also gives him suggestions on what he could have done in DC if he had more time to explore the vibrant district and its emerging neighbourhoods.
The letter is hosted on www.dccool.com; the website dedicated to Destination DC’s marketing campaign, DC Cool, which promotes all the ‘cool’ things to do in DC beyond the obvious political tourist attractions.
In Washington, DC today, The Duke will attend the anti-corruption conference at the World Bank to discuss a zero tolerance approach to the transportation of illegal wildlife parts across borders. The Duke is President of the United for Wildlife consortium and this is a key area of work for the organisation.
Following the conference, The Duke will attend a working lunch at the World Bank to discuss a number of programmes in support of the fight against the illegal trade in ivory, before heading back to New York City.
