GEORGIA TOURISM APPOINTS kbc

by | Jan 5, 2017 | Blog, Press Releases

5 January 2017:  US specialist kbc has been appointed by Georgia Tourism to promote the southern state as a premier travel destination in the UK, Ireland and Scandinavia.

kbc (www.kbc-pr.com) secured the contract, which began on 1 January 2017 and runs initially for one calendar year, as part of a competitive RFP process.  The agency will be responsible for media relations, travel trade and consumer marketing activities, with the aim of widening awareness of Georgia beyond the gateway city of Atlanta and increasing visitor numbers and length of stay throughout the state.

kbc will focus on Georgia’s rich musical and film heritage, as well as the state’s central role in the Civil Rights movement and its mountain and coastal scenery to encourage visitors to tour more extensively.

In addition to Atlanta, one of the USA’s fastest-growing metropolitan areas, Georgia’s other established tourism centre is the atmospheric coastal city of Savannah, famed for its stunning historic architecture and tree-lined streets and parks.

Account director Jo Thomas will spearhead Georgia Tourism PR activity at kbc, reporting to Tracy Vaughan, Director – Business Development and International Accounts at the Georgia Department of Economic Development.

Georgia joins a kbc US tourism portfolio which now includes 14 states, Washington DC, the Florida Keys & Key West, Visit West Hollywood, Loews Hotels & Resorts and the U.S. Travel Association’s annual international marketplace IPW.

KBC chief executive Kate Burgess-Craddy commented: “Georgia is the heart of the US South  –  geographically because Atlanta is the natural and undisputed gateway to the region, and emotionally because the state offers all of the things that bring visitors to the South in the first place: rich heritage, real scenic beauty, Southern hospitality and charm.

“Georgia gives us so much to work with and we are delighted to have the opportunity to create a greater awareness of the state in the UK, Ireland and Scandinavia.”
