Destination Vancouver and Tourism Whistler join forces to appoint KBC

February 2024: Destination Vancouver and Tourism Whistler have teamed up to appoint travel and tourism specialist KBC PR & Marketing to handle a joint UK public relations brief.

Geared towards high-end consumer and travel trade media, the campaign will focus on encouraging UK travellers to enjoy an extended stay and delve deeper into the two British Columbia destinations. Activity will aim to grow awareness of lesser-known seasonal highlights and less trodden paths, ensuring that Vancouver and Whistler are at the top of the must-visit list for travellers considering Canada.

KBC, which has managed UK public relations for Destination British Columbia since 2015, will look to drive visitation in the winter, spring, and autumn seasons. Combining an aspirational, outdoors lifestyle, world-class culinary scene, bucket-list wildlife viewing and a wealth of adrenaline activities, Vancouver and Whistler align perfectly for both first-time and repeat visitors to Canada.

Destination Vancouver is a not-for-profit private business association that exists to support the city’s tourism industry and to promote Vancouver in North American and international markets. Ranked the fifth most liveable city in the world*, Vancouver aspires to also be the greenest and was the birthplace of Greenpeace. Culturally diverse, it is one of the best cities for foodies: the inaugural Michelin Guide Vancouver was launched in autumn 2022, with a second edition in 2023 further elevating the city’s reputation as a global dining destination.

Legally known as the Whistler Resort Association, Tourism Whistler is the non-profit member-based marketing and sales organisation representing Whistler. Located a two-hour drive north from Vancouver along the scenic Sea-to-Sky Highway, Whistler is renowned for its world-class skiing and snowboarding, boasting the longest ski season in North America. Whistler Blackcomb’s famed alpine terrain also appeals to hikers and mountain bikers, while at lower elevations sparkling glacier-fed lakes, towering old-growth forests, waterfalls, beaches, parks, and golf courses are linked by a network of paved valley trails.

The account win adds to KBC’s Canadian portfolio which also includes Travel Alberta and Rocky Mountaineer, in addition to Destination British Columbia.
