by | Jun 3, 2014 | Press Releases

Maryland’s newest attraction, the Capital Wheel, opened at the end of May at the National Harbor. The 42 climate-controlled gondolas accommodate up to eight passengers, who can marvel at the panoramic views of the White House, US Capitol, National Mall and the newly restored Washington Monument.

Soaring 180 feet above the Potomac River, the 320 tonne structure was manufactured by Chance American wheels in Wichita, Kansas, and later pushed by a Cianbro tugboat from Baltimore to its final destination at National Harbor. The Capital Wheel also offers catering from celebrity Chef, Wolfgang Puck.

The wheel is open year-round and costs $15 for adult, $11.25 for children aged three-11, and children 2 and under go free. Guests can make their experience even more luxurious by purchasing a VIP package on board National Harbor One which boasts wine chillers, retracting monitor/DVD player and leather seats at $50 per person.
